Final blog ms rears the bomb

For these three years in ms rear's class it had a big change in me toward reading. What I learned about myself in reading is that I get more focused on my book if its about life events and child abuse. Writing blog post made me express the book in an other way and made me realize more about it. It did benefit me because I could show it to people and tell them about it. Writing online is not much different in my opinion but there is a little difference because its more longer online. I feel like there isnt a limit online that's why they get more longer then on a notebook. I think it is more open minded online well for me it was I think I went really detailed on my blogs. Well I believe they kind of do because they feel like oh its online can't do anything but then some do take caution of what happens I feel like its a bad thing because some kids they take over the freedom of online and might abuse it by bulling or causing fights.  I feel like if I kept on blogging my mind would be more widely open about books that I have or am going to read.

The catcher in the rye

In the book the catcher in the rye (which was an amazing book) my main character Holdin has very much to realate to me and most adult teens in the world. In my point of view I can see the decision making he made for not tell his parents because I would two. One thing I was that relatede to him and I think anyone who read the book would agree was that throughout this journey her places himself in he meets lots of new people something we do in basically our whole life. But what fascinated me about the character J.D Salinger did was that in just a few days he met so many people.  
    One example, in the beginning when Holdin was still in school I met his roommates they were described really descriptive but by Holdin's perspective. The first person was Ackley in pg.19 he had entered the room where holdin was reading Holdin said "I never once saw him brush his teeth. They always looked mossy and awful and he damn near made you sick if you saw him in the dining room with a mouth full of mashed potatoes and peas or something. Besides that he had a lot of pimples. He was sort of a nasty guy I wasn't too crazy about him to tell the truth." In that part is where he describes Ackley as an ugly guy which is how I imagined him throughout the book.
  Something I wondered about in the book is why did this girl he really liked show up in the book her name was Alli and at the end he never really goes out with her she was mentioned toward the beginning but toward the rest of the book she wasn't really important. I can relate to that a lot because once I met this girl over the summer but saw her once we played in the park but then she had to go and when she left I remembered that I had forgotten to ask her, her name so the the next summer at the same park I see her again!. I was really surprised but I had forgotten that I didn't ask for her name so then my mom said I had to go eat and I could go back and play. When I returned to ask the girl her name she was gone. You see I didn't get why faith or life made me meet this girl whom I won't know her name and only see her two times in my life. Just like I don't get the reason Holdin had brought up Alli. 

Romeo and Juliet

The book "romeo and juliet" by the author William Shakespeare is about a great romance that accured. The great romance was known as love at first sight they didn't care about anyone or anything. Romeo hadn't known anything about juliet and nor did juliet to romeo. Soon they started to find out about one another and juliet turned out being thirteen and romeo sixteen. Like they say age didn't that was true but there was another thing in there way. They were both from very different families not just any but real important ones that did not let this romance accure. Juliet was a capulet and romeo a montague. Both families had hatered toward eachother that could not sustain to even look at one another. Romeo and Juliet did not fall back on this love because they knew they were destant to be with one another till death. With that said there where three themes in the book which was guilt,consequences, and forbidden love.
     Guilt was the first theme that was brought in my mind because when romeo had killed tabalt without thinking ahead he notice later on when he was vanished out of Vermont that he wasn't going to be able to see his one and only love juliet .In the book romeo says “'Tis torture and not mercy. Heaven is here, where Juliet lives, and every cat and dog and little mouse, every unworthy thing, live here in heaven and may look on her, but Romeo may not."On page 3, 3, 30-52. Meaning to say where he's going its no place of home because he's farther away from juliet and that were hes not wanted is all his fault because now he may not see juliet. Also he shouldn't have took his anger out to death. Another reason where they show guilt in the book is when the frior saw romeo dead he knew that the planned had all broken down because he hadn't told romeo soon enough. The frior states that “And if aught in this miscarried by my fault" on page 5, 3, 281-284. Trying to say that if this tragedy happened its all because of me. Which was kind of true but wasn't intentional.
       The second theme that showed up was consequences which accured from the mistakes of the people that made in the book. A person who suffered consequences was tabalt he had killed romeos best friend so in return romeo had killed him. But the consequences romeo payed were different. The prince had said "I will be deaf to pleading and excuses. Nor tears nor prayers shall purchase out abuses, therefore use none. Let Romeo hence in haste, else, when he’s found, that hour is his last." On page 3, 1, 148-149. Meaning that romeo was vanished and if he was seen his last time there would b his last time alive. Another person who payed consequences was the friar. Because he had planned the plan too late without futher notice to romeo he was led to his death and juleit was only putting her trust on him wich he had failed om. In the book the prince says “Their course of love, the tidings of her death. And here he writes that he did buy a poison of a poor 'pothecary, and therewithal came to this vault to die and lie with Juliet. Where be these enemies? Capulet! Montague! See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, that heaven finds means to kill your joys with love!". On page 5, 3, 308-312. Meaning where are those who denied to this love because those are the ones who killed both of them if It wouldn't have been for there hatred they would b happily together.
        The last theme that I thought of was mostly in the whole book was forbidden love. For example in the beginning of the book juliet talks about how she likes this guy she justjustet but once she finds more about him she say and I quote "my only love sprung my only hate!". In page 61, 1.5, 152. Meaning her true love comes from a family hated and that, that stops the whole meaning of freedom for her. Her love turns into a disaster. Juliet also tries states "deny thy father and refuse thy name or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and ill no longer be a capulet". On page 71, 2, 2,37-39. Meaning that for her love she would change where she was born and rase she would fight for this forbidden love.
    All in all the book romeo and juliet by William Shakespeare has included three themes throughout the book guilt, consequences, and forbidden love. In my opinion the theme that was the most powerful was forbidden or guilt because they had a forbidden love that killed them and the people who forbidden the love were guily as charged.

The book “The Child Called It” by author David Pelzer, is a story with unsatisfied events and based on a true story. The story is about child abuse that occurred in a boy’s life and told in a story of a book that let out his emotions and feelings. This child abuse occurred in the history of California were people started to realize more of the tragedy of child abuse accruing in the world we live in. The main character is a little boy named David who is being brutally child abused by his own mother. David had two older brothers but they were not abused by his mother like he was.  In fact, they were not hurt at all. The title says a “child called it,” “it” came from a name his mother would call the kid throughout the story. David’s mom was an alcoholic who hurt him daily and left him to starve and the only chance he gets to eat is when his brothers leave left overs. David’s scared to say anything because he knows if his words were spoken he would get beaten, so he keeps his thoughts in his head. David has to play in the games of his mother but in this game he is the toy that nobody wants to play but everyone wants to break and throw around. Not everyone though there is a special owner of this “toy” which is known as his mother. He is a lonely child who lives in the basement of his house with ripped up dirty clothes.

            David’s just a little boy who wants to eat. So in order for him to get food he steals from others. David’s mom knows his tricks and so in order for her to know if he stole or not she obligates his to throw up. The trick his mom does is if he vomits then she knows he has eaten something he stole from school and if he doesn’t he’s freed but only for a few minutes. David mom will always find a way to hurt him. The worst part is that he has to live with this without saying anything to anyone only himself which isn’t enough. He has to suffer with less food everyday but beatings every second. If that’s not enough for his mother when he steals and his mother finds out her punishment toward him is no food at all for the day.

            In school it’s not anything different it’s like his mother destroys his life with anything. His classmates make fun of him because of his ripped up clothes. They don’t like sitting next to him because he smells bad because he wears the same clothes every day. It is not David’s fault he has to wear it all the time his mom tells him to. Not making it a choice for him but a monitory thing. David still keeps silence in school not telling anyone his “secret” but eventually teachers would send him to the nurse because of the bruises left on his arm. He remembers how his mother would say to not tell anyone she had done this or else he would get punished. Of course David knew what kind of punishment he would get so instead he would tell the nurse he had fell. The nurse attempts to call David’s mother but David acts fast enough to stop her. He is too frighten to tell anyone about his hopeless nights in his house it felt more like a jail then a home. David just wanted to let out how lonely he felt in his house like if he wasn’t part of that family or belong anywhere in general.

 David had his father though, he loved him a lot. Well he claimed to and said he did. He did think of him as an actual human being not as a “It” like his mother had seen him. David’s dad saw him with other eyes. You could say he looked at him with eyes of a father. David’s dad was no fool he saw his son suffering but thought that since he came home late he could not do anything. Don’t take him as a bad guy he did bring food down for David at night when he was punished or when he had the time he would also try and make him part of the family but nothing lasted when he was gone. David also didn’t take his dad for granted he felt better when his dad was by his side. The “it” felt like someone for once. Then one day that feeling went away he never came down to see him anymore not on single second even if he waited at last he gave up. He had notice that his angle had gone to another person and left him alone, Again.

 At the end his mom decides to let him go because she gets tired of him. David wants to go but isn’t sure to because his thoughts tell him he won’t live alone. David feels free but doesn’t know where to go or what to do once he’s gone out. This book is my favorite book and I surly mean it because me as a reader from only this tittle. It interested me and grabbed my attention. Also because I never thought this would actually be accruing in the real world. In the tittle it says base on a true story and when I started reading the book it was from David’s perspective. This made the book more intriguing because he added his thoughts and feeling as if we the reader put our shoes in his we would see what it feels to not be loved. This book made me realize that we live in a world with monsters but not literary monsters but us who make us care less about people we put into this would or have around us.

          I really enjoyed reading this because I feel like  its an important topic that happens in society and this poem tells it all that  happen and about bullying. Bullying is a big problem with teens and you can never know from who it comes from . And its an important topic because some people get bullied and no one knows who it is because they are so quiet and hide it within them that know one really knows that they get bullied. And you feel pain and people should feel pain but they do. And the fact that others for example bullies laugh  feel that its not fair because you don't know what they are feeling like. Just like the poem said some are nice and some are mean describes the different way they are. Hurting others should not happen and should be stopped. 

Young adults book

Young adult books that are dark, depressing, or include violence shouldn't be in our middle school libraries if it doesn't have a change in the end or has no hopes in the main characters goal or life because they are basically just too harsh and and can make a teen change. If a book does not have a change especially if it includes violence or dark actions in the book teens shouldn't be reading it because then they wouldn't be getting a "ah-huh" moment. The young adult books that don't have hope are just so depressing and when kids get depressed some start cutting or hurting themselves for sure I know teens do not look cute cutting also no parent would want that.
     Young adult books that are dark, depressing or include violence shouldn't be in middle school libraries If they don't have a change in the main character or have no hope in the books. The reason I make this statement is because if the book doesn't have a change it has no point . For example in the passage "The 'sick'-'lit' books aimed at children" it states "she added: I'd finish reading and immediately reach for my blade" if the book jess (the girl who said the quote) read had a change in the character why would jess cut herself teens just don't cut them selves just to be cool everyone always has a reasons and jess reason was because "the book put into words what she felt" this young adult book is causing a teen to do harm to them self is that really what parents want there 13 or 14 year old reading harmful books that can make there kids turn into cutting maniacs.Another example is because y.a books are too depressing when theres no hope in a character the book starts to get gloomy and then the reader start go "hey I feel that way too now" For example the book "after I die" was based on a 16 year old girl who had cancer and was writing a list of what to do before she died in the text it states "tessa complies a list of what to do before she expires" so that tells me Alright so my character is down (feeling low) because she has cancer but wouldn't she be determined instead of having no hope that she will live. This book is too depressing for teens but the worst of it is that "they're also aimed at children as young as 12" I mean that's still a preteen still coming out to the world little by little they shouldn't be reading these books that drag u down to darkness.
     Other people who disagree with taking down .Dark, depressing or include violence y.a books that shouldn't be on the libraries might think it bad to rate book but I mean is it really bad?. If rating book were bad there would be books of sexual, raping, and murder on the libraries because rating a book means seeing if the book is too dark or not. Yes, some y.a books give lessons and people change but the author of those y.a books don't really stand out that change which makes the reader/teen harm themselves. If y.a book weren't judge then teens wouldn't be teens they would be "monsters".
     In conclusion y.a books that are dark depressing or include violence shouldn't be in middle school libraries if it doesn't have a change in the character or if the character has no hope. When reading a book teens relate there life with books and they keep on reading till the end just to see how the main character will end and to relate how they will end there problems.

Faithful Elephants

Faithful Elephants: A true story of animals, people, and war 

          The story Faithful Elephants by Yukio Tsuchiya is about the war in Tokyo. The story is also about how in this zoo in Tokyo there are three unique elephants that were very special. These elephants have been suffering and died of starvation because of the war some animals in the zoo were also poisoned to die. The elephants couldn’t eat until the war was over because there were bombs being dropped.   

          I think that the elephants kind of symbolized the people that were in Tokyo because they had feelings, suffered because of starvation, and were badly affected by the war. In the title of the story it say’s animals, people, and war so that to me meant the elephants weren’t the only people who suffered also the people. I think the author was trying to show how the elephants and people connected in suffering because of this war.

          I think the people outside the war in Tokyo were like the elephants at the zoo. For example in a quote from the passage it says “whenever a keeper walked by their cage they would stand up, tottering, as if to beg”. The elephants were begging for food just like the people in the war because with the bombs dropping you couldn’t just go out and buy food. The people just had to eat whatever they had and if it was nothing they would have to stay like that. When the author described how the elephants were begging I thought how usually I would see a human begging not a animal.

          The elephants were also like people because they also suffered because of death. For example in the story the author says “the elephant’s keeper stopped feeding Tonky and Wanly.  As the days passed, the elephants became thinner and thinner, weaker and weaker”.  That meant to me that the elephants were dying little by little. When I think outside the story and more into the war world I compare the elephants and the people and how the elephants die because of starvation and so do the people. This war has affected the people and animals because it kills them and makes them suffer because they have no were to go.

          In conclusion I think that the elephants wanly, John, and tonky were three important elephants because they symbolized the people in Tokyo suffering because of the war
